A quick stop was "ruined"

I love castle ruins. I love to explore them and imagine what a place may have been like hundreds of years before. Erick and I explore ruins with the kids whenever we get a chance.

In the Black Forest, it felt like we saw ruins at the top of every hill. As we saw them, we would make a mental note of the location. Then we would return if we had a free afternoon or evening.

This particular evening we were surprised to discover that the ruins we saw from the road had turned commercial. We hiked up the hill to find a large hotel at the base of the ruins. There was also an extremely expensive restaurant and a park. I should have taken a picture of the hotel. The tower had a locked gate at the base. Next to the gate was a sign that informed us that we could get a key from the front hotel desk. Ha!

We still explored and enjoyed the ruins, the view, and the park. We skipped the restaurant. We were hungry, just not that hungry.

Castle ruins are so much fun but so hard to capture in photographs. These pictures are amazing and truly show what we saw, beautiful Tera.

What a fun stop! T.J. looks like the king of the hill up there on that tower. The black and white of the gnarly old tree is awesome. Pretty pretty pictures!
