Rothenburg ob der Tauber
Thanksgiving weekend, we decided to drive to this beautiful medieval town. It's German name means "Red fortress above the Tauber" (referring to the Tauber river). Some of the architecture of this town dates back to the 900's.
Some other fun facts about this town:
-It was the inspiration for the Disney movie Pinocchio
-It was the location for the Vulgarian village scenes in one of our favorite movies, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
-It can be seen in the movie Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
We didn't know any of these fun facts when we visited the town. We had just heard it was a cute town. We also knew that the Rothenburg Christmas market was opening this week. We had a fabulous time!
With the Christmas market and the cold weather, we didn't plan enough time to see everything. So, we'll have to come back soon. But take a look at what we did see:
A year in pictures: Week 11
Friday 19 November
Today I went to the elementary school and worked at the PTA Book Fair. I always have fun chatting with the PTA ladies.
Saturday 20 November
Erick and I took the kids to see Mega Mind. I was pleasantly surprised. It wasn't as dumb as I thought is was going to be. David slept through most of it. Code: The kids loved it!
Sunday 21 November
This memorial to JFK is a block away from church. We pass it every Sunday. Under his name it says "to remember."
Monday 22 November
I bought a Poinsettia this week. I'm getting so excited for Christmas! Don't worry, I didn't pull out my Christmas decorations until AFTER Thanksgiving.
Tuesday 23 November
Reunion.
Today my neighbor Pete returned home from Afghanistan. His kids were thrilled! I was lucky enough to witness the reunion with his kids because they were playing at my house when he got home.
Thursday 25 November
Thanksgiving!
I did not take any good photos of Thanksgiving. It's pretty sad because we had some great families join us this year. I did, however, take a picture of the kids tables. It was such a fun day!
Thursday 25 November
I think Pam is looking for clues.

A year in pictures: Week 10
This week was busy and fun and crazy. I didn't take many pictures. But instead of skipping a week, I thought I would go through my photos and share some that I haven't yet shared. I'll still do a little explanation of each. Have a great week!
Erick's Army boots.
Nine years ago, when I married Erick, I had no idea our life would be as fun and as interesting as it is now. I also had no idea that my husband would choose a career where he would wear these boots. Every day.
My church.
This is the sign that hangs on the front of my church building here in Germany. Translated, its says, "Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints." I feel so blessed to belong to a church that is the same everywhere in the world. It doesn't matter if I'm in California or Argentina or right here in Germany. There is always a congregation that teaches the same gospel and teaches the same principles.
My boy.
His smile just melts me. He his a happy, healthy boy. I am so glad he is part of my family.
Parking on my street.
I live on a street that is paved in red brick. I love my street. I also love how the Germans distinguish available parking on my street. Gray bricks.
A witch.
The Halloween decorations are all put away until next year. But I love Halloween. I especially love decorating for Halloween. Mostly because my mother-in-law has given me the cutest Halloween decorations in the world. This witch was made by Erick's aunt. We love it Auntie Nan!
Curlers for the curly?
Bailey's curls have been struggling a bit lately. Her hair is getting thick and heavy. It's straightening out a bit on the top. But I'm not willing to give them up. When she needs a little burst of curl, I put rollers in her hair. It seems to work pretty well.
A survivor.
Last Spring, Joey brought some carrot seeds home from school and tried to plant them. They started out in a plastic cup on the window ledge. They soon dried up from lack of water. In a desperate attempt to save them, we replanted them in our front flower bed. I never saw much growth, so I forgot about them. This fall when I was getting the flower beds ready for winter, I discovered one tiny carrot. Joey was thrilled.
Tailgating with ESPN
Here are some pictures of our FRG group tailgating while ESPN was at Graf. These are the ladies who ran our booth (along with some of their husbands). We sold hot corn on the cob and baked goods. It was a fun day!
