Bayreuth

On April 10th, I took a day trip with the kids and some friends. I am warning you that I took WAY too many photos. So read on at your own risk. Believe it or not, I actually cut back quite a bit.

We explored the gardens around Neues Schloss or the New Palace in Bayreuth. This palace was built in the 1700's. Here it is from the front:

TJ loved the fountains:

Our little family:

Mary Anne and her kids came along for the day. I love this photo... so much. Real life:

It was TJ's idea to stand like this statue:

Joey loved the idea:

Chanda and her kids came along as well. Here are Oaklee and TJ throwing rocks into the fountain:

Loved this view:

A family photo:

My super helper. Thanks Bailey:

The kids loved feeding the ducks:

We stopped at a gazebo-type building and played a game called "statue." Aren't these some great looking statues?

Eventually the game morphed into dancing:

Time to do the Robot:

Love this picture of Joey:

David:

Eventually we found a park with swings and slides and a merry-go-round. I wanted to include this picture because Mary Anne's mother-in-law came along for the day as well. This woman is one of the most active and attentive grandmas I have ever met. She was always playing right along side the kids:

My older kids spent most of their time on the zip-line:

Even the toddlers tried out the zip-line. This picture cracks me up:

I didn't get a picture of Canon taking a turn. David was the only almost-two-year-old to stick to safer entertainment:

These three boys are very close in age, and they get along great. It was so much fun to watch them play together:

Two of my battle buddies. I love these girls!

Can you see Bailey?

Here she is zoomed in. Man! That girl enjoys climbing:

Joey is always ready for an adventure... Hey girl, where are your legs?

We decided to wander into downtown to see if we could find some eis (ice cream). On the way out of the park, we saw this building. It's the burial location of Richard Wagner:

As we reached the walking area of town, we quickly realized that it was designed with kids in mind:

The weather was nice, but not hot. But that didn't stop our kids from playing in the fountains. The locals thought we were crazy for letting the kids get wet. But the kids had a ball, so it was worth it:

All of the kids were FREEZING afterward, but it actually made it easier to convince them that it was time to go home:

Yes, it is midnight and I'm not in bed. I'm commenting on your blog post instead. But I couldn't resist! Loved this post. I'm glad you didn't leave out any more pictures. It's so hard to choose when you have such an awesome day. I might need to steal some of these! I have some from playing "statue" that you might want, too. That picture of Joey buried in the sand is AWESOME. I'm totally impressed by that...how did I miss it on the day of?
