Ward camp out

Last Friday night we joined our ward (congregation) for an overnight camping adventure. Because it was chilly and it was supposed to rain, I didn't think many people would come. Boy was I wrong. Many of my favorite people were there.

We roasted marshmallows and listened to Brother Gilbuena play the guitar. The kids stayed up playing night games - a first for Joey and Bailey. We chatted and got to know some of the new people. It was a great night.

David played with one of his favorite people, Pam.

For journaling purposes (journaling... is that a word?) and for my own memory (because I'm pretty sure I won't remember everyone's names twenty years from now when we've moved another six or seven times), I'm going to list the awesome families who came. I hope I haven't forgotten anybody: the Countrymans, the Miners, the Becks, the Emmons, the Ellsworths, the Andrus', the Lundmarks, the Platts, Sabrina Ewert, the Bradleys, the Campbells, the Lewis', the Tuckers, the Gilbuenas, the missionaries, the Blackmans, the Burninghams, the Wagners, the Maughans, and the DuWors.

Looking at this list makes me appreciate my church family. We have an amazing group of people in our ward. And there were so many amazing people who couldn't make it. We missed you!

The kids had a great time making S'mores:

Erick brought along some bottles of root beer. He only gets the glass bottles for special occasions. I think it was warranted:

Our friend Dusty introduced us to the strange and wonderful world of roasted Starburst candies. I recommend you try it:

Saturday morning we enjoyed an amazing breakfast provided by Pam...er I mean the Elder's Quorum. Here is Erick demonstrating how to make an omelet in a bag. Yummy!

...and how to eat an orange:

Good morning Mary Anne and Sadie:

Not sure what he's looking at, but I'm curious:

Down by the pond, I found some kids climbing onto the paddle boat. I heart the kids in our ward. Can't you tell how awesome they are?

After breakfast, Erick took our girls on a canoe ride. Fun family memories:

Great first camping trip with the kids. Nice safe way to test of how David would handle sleeping in a tent. Also great time with friends.
