Looking ahead

Erick wrote me an email a few days ago that really stuck with me. He said that the reason he and I are so happy with our lives is because we love the journey. He's right. We are not always focused on a worldly destination. We don't think "as soon as such-and-such happens, then we'll be happy." We are happy now while we move from one life adventure to the next. We love the drive. Sure we hit potholes in our road sometimes and get flat tires, but even that always seems to turn out as an opportunity to grow together. And we end up even happier when it's all fixed.

His email made me smile. I know I am certainly lucky to have Erick in my life. He makes our journey more fun and exciting.

Looking ahead, I'm very excited for 2012. Here are some of the events that I am most looking forward to this year:

  • Bailey's baptism
  • R&R (two weeks vacation with Erick)
  • Going to Disneyland
  • Running a half marathon
  • Welcoming Erick home from Afghanistan for good
  • More travel - right now, we're thinking Morocco and the UK
    (Any suggestions of places we shouldn't miss while we're in Europe?)
  • Moving back to the states
  • Exploring the South with the family

I'm sure there are many more things that we are going to do, but these are the ones that I'm focusing on now. I feel so blessed to have such a great life and a great husband to enjoy it with.

You have so many fun events to look forward to this coming year. However, you really don't want to come home without spending a week in Ireland. That would nearly be blasphemous. :)

So much to look forward to this year...maybe I should do a post like this! But the thought of your family leaving Germany makes me sad. You will undoubtedly be missed. But I'm happy that a few of those things on your list are also on mine! It's going to be one awesome year.
