This year, we were planning to make a paper tree to have on the wall, just like the one Erick has at work. But then the girls saw our little artificial tree in the storage room, and they began asking if they could see all of our new Christmas ornaments. We decided we should decorate a tree after all:
David began attacking the tree right away. We did our best to keep the fragile ornaments out of his reach:
We have started a new tradition here in Europe. We have tried our best to collect a Christmas ornament from every location we visit. The kids are showing off a few of our newer ones.
Bailey is showing an ornament from Split, Croatia:
TJ is showing an ornament from Italy:
Joey is holding a kem göz from Turkey. They believe it chases away evil and protects your home:
Here is our little tree all decorated. We put it on the table to leave plenty of room for Santa to leave presents underneath:
Here are a few of my own favorite ornaments.
This first is a baby Bavarian cow. I'm still hoping to find his mother before we leave Germany:
This ornament is all about nostalgia. Erick and I made these cardboard ornaments our first Christmas together:
A wood carving from a German Christmas market:

Not only do I miss the Christmas markets, but decorating the tree is one of the best nights of the year. All the memories we created getting the ornaments is fun to retell.
