Fish Lake Summer 2011

We were so lucky that Grandma and Grandpa B planned a trip to Fish Lake while we were in Utah. Camping is always fun for the kids. It is such a picturesque area:

Kelly was quickly labelled the "fun mom" as she introduced the best dinner plan ever:

Pizza. Each kid got to roll his/her own dough for grilled pizza. I am totally stealing this idea for my next outdoor cooking event:

The kids spent most of the weekend exploring the area around the campsite:

They found animal tracks, bones, feathers, and.... um.... yes. My son found a cow pie. He said it was a fossil. I give him points for creativity. Here he is showing it off. Look what I found mom!

The kids have been talking about riding in Grandpa's boat for weeks and weeks. Luckily, Grandpa didn't disappoint.  Here are Joey, Bailey, TJ and Scott with Grandpa and  Aunt Annie:

TJ was excited to ride with his cousin/buddy Scott:

Later in the afternoon, TJ and Scott caught the biggest fish of the day. It was a joint effort. Scott got the bite, and TJ reeled him in. Here is the day's haul:

Joey and Bailey taught Scott (age 5) how to climb a rock.... sort of:

It resulted in a cute picture:

Are you wondering where TJ was? Tired.

The kids also had a blast with some guns and bows and arrows that we found at the local country store. They were all suction cup ammunition. TJ found lots of bad guys to shoot:

The girls practiced quite a bit with their bows:

This was David's first camping trip. He did pretty well. He spent most of the time in either his stroller or his cousin's port-a-crib. Here he is with Annie enjoying the evening air:

On this trip, we discovered that David loves cantaloupe. He couldn't get enough it seems:

Overall, this trip tuckered him out:

David's cousin Rees was walking circles around him. She has loads of energy and loved exploring camp just like the big kids. I especially love watching her eat. She's such a doll:

Bailey decided to make our camping trip more exciting by inviting a friend to lunch. This tick didn't get a very big lunch though thanks to Kelly who noticed him pretty quickly:

Bailey decided she didn't like being a bug's lunch. Luckily, we had Nurse Andee (aka Aunt Andee) with us to save the day. Thanks Andee!

Andee had to leave early to catch a flight back to Missouri. We'll miss you Andee!

On the last night of our trip, Joey decided that she couldn't be outdone by Bailey, so she tripped and fell onto the hot propane lantern. She got a pretty bad burn on her neck. Too bad Andee had already left. Joey had to rely on three non-nurses to help her feel better:

Even with the cow pies and injuries, this was a super fun camping trip. I hope we get to come again next time!

Ticks! Ewww. And ouch, Joey! But you're right, it seems like you still had a blast aside from all of that. The cow pie picture makes me laugh. TJ that is an awesome fish you caught buddy! Camping is always so much fun...don't know why we don't go more often.
