It’s winter. Did you know? And Bavaria gets cold in the winter. Very cold.
This week we learned a little trick from the Germans.
They are called Strumpfhosen. The kids wear them under their regular pants to stay warm.
Basically, they are just really thick tights, but they are designed for both girls and BOYS. That’s right. TJ is wearing tights. He loves them. In fact, he won’t take them off. He slept in them last night.
I even got a pair of them for myself. I was pretty toasty on our trip to the Weiden Christmas Market. Keep reading below to find out about that fun outing:

I want some Strumpfhosen! It's not really that cold here, I just hate having cold feet/ankles. :)
PS -- Every time you talk about Bavaria, all I can think about is Bavarian cream. That is how well-learned I am and how much I love sweets. :)
i remember old slovene women wearing really thick sock/tights clear into spring and summer! these were the same old babicas that yelled at me for opening the window on the train even though it was 90 degrees outside!
They had those in Russia but they were not NEARLY that cute!!! Holy cow, I love that picture!
I need a pair of those. It is so COLD here!! I love the cute picture!!
Very cute! When you send Jamie some, I want some too!
The part they don't put on the package is that the Germans put their kids in those YEAR ROUND!!! My aunt would always dress my cousins in those when they were here in America over the summer (and my mom would always yell at her for doing it....haha)
Put me on the mailing list. Those are so dang cute.
of course they do! so smart! love them! sign me up! :)
They are so cute and a good idea! The Weiden Christmas market looks so fun! I bet you guys are lovin it over there. I love the picture of TJ in the cooler. That's impressive he can fit in there.
