Fort Benning hosted an Oktoberfest this year. My boys were excited to wear their German lederhosen, and I wore my dirndle.
Joey and Bailey decided they would rather wear regular clothes, so they could play without ruining their dresses. Good choice girls!
We had all sorts of fun on the inflatable toys:
We ran into our friends the Towles, the Cartiers, and the Websters while we were there. We had a good time with them.
Erick and Eric decided to compete with pugil sticks to knock each other off their stand. It was very entertaining:
The kids wanted a turn too. TJ and Caroline are getting into character for their competition:
TJ, you should never hit a girl...
...because she'll always get you back. Ha!
Joey and Sean also competed:
Next, Erick strapped himself to this bungee run thing. He ran as far as he could until the bungee chord snapped him back. It was pretty funny to watch:
My favorite part was seeing the animals. David liked it too...
...until he realized the camels could stick their heads over the fence:
Erick calmed David enough to take him and TJ on a camel ride:
The other kids wanted to go too. Caroline and Bailey:
Joey and Sean:
My kids all took turns on the trampolines and the rock wall. I missed out on a photo of Bailey on the trampoline. Sorry Bailey! But here is Joey showing off some tricks:
And a more conservative TJ:
Bailey showing some mean climbing skills:
Joey did well too.
TJ broke the well-known climbing rule of "don't look down," and decided he was done at about seven feet high:
Eric Towle looks great in TJ's hat, don't you think?
We grabbed some food. We had brats and schnitzel sandwiches and jagerschnitzel. Unfortunately, none of it tasted like Germany.
A local news reporter interviewed TJ while we were there. He asked TJ about the fest and about his outfit. TJ encouraged everyone to come out to the Oktoberfest celebration. It really was fun!
